The chapter starts in a ruined temple with a statue of a reclining Buddha, a clear nod to Sagat's home stage, as Asura observes a portal materializing. The DLC is not considered part of the story of Asura's Wrath, and Ryu even indicates he's been transported from his world to the world of the game, showing there's no connection to Street Fighter's own canon.
